Five Star Moving Company

I am glad 5 Star was my pick for this move. They live up to their name, in my opinion. Richard was kind, attentive, efficient, and professional. He explained everything patiently. I had questions and a few changes that were dealt with nicely. The moving company he selected for my move communicated their arrival time and they were punctual, efficient , professional, and kind. They exceeded my expectations and helped me a great deal.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $3100

The Five Star sold me on the idea that they would be with us every step of the way which wasn't true. Five Star knowingly hired a F rated company to move us. The movers showed up a day late, didn't provide us with the space we requested forcing us to leave several of our items (we paid for 1900 cubic ft and were only provided 1150 cubic ft), we also purchased a $400 packing credit that we didn't use that we weren't reimbursed for. We were promised delivery in 4-7 days however, it took 13 days during which time neither Five Star or the moving company Revolution would return our calls. We had to get a lawyer involved to get any communication from them. Five Stars response to my family and our lawyer was once our items were picked up by the moving company Five Star was no longer liable.

After several days of our lawyer staying in contact with Five Star and the Revolution we finally received our items. We had thousands of dollars in damage to our items, we had boxes that were crushed and boxes that were opened and stuff taken out and had several items that are still missing. We reported these issues to Five Star whom to this day denied any responsibility with the move as once they contract out the job they are out of the picture which contradicts what were were told upon hiring them as our broker. They knowingly hired a moving company with 1 star reviews to move us knowing their track record. Although we were able to provide the owner of Five Star the text messages, email showing the promises from his staff along with the photos showing the damages he stated there was nothing that can be done by Five Star because "as a broker who doesn't move the items they are held harmless".

I am writing this review in hopes that I can save another family the heartache we went through.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7127

I booked with Five Star Moving for the reason being that they are honest. Being a father of 3 kids I couldn't just rent a truck and do the move on my own.

I was first contacted by Thomas which he walked me through the moving process. A few days before my move Austin called me to go over my items again.

The movers got to my house on Jan 7th to start all the packing and loading which was finished on the 8th in the afternoon. Within one week I had all my items delivery with little to no damage. Thank you so much Five Star for making this happen, I will use you if I move again!

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $13000

Do not trust this broker. They will hand off your job to what seems like just about any moving company willing to take the gig. I hired them to coordinate the packing and moving of two homes (one in Upstate NY and one in Brooklyn) to a new home in Portland, OR. The sales rep was Thomas Downs. They made promises that they couldn't keep and presented themselves as close coordinators in the move, rather than what they are, which is a broker that finds a moving company and then takes their hands off the wheel. I find it to be an unethical business practice that a moving company called Five Star Moving Co presents themselves as the actual movers yet only after one signs up for the service does one discover that they are not in fact the actual movers and simply a match maker. Not having done a move like this before I had no idea of the pitfalls and myself and I’m sure countless others are taken advantage of when they are looking for a reputable moving company to hire.

Five Star estimated the move at less than 50% of what it ended up costing me yet I didn’t know this until the day of the move when movers were there and packing. The movers to pack the house came a week late. And the movers delivering the move were several days late. This was critical as we were moving amidst a pandemic and needed to quarantine upon arrival. Items in the original contract that would be reassembled at the move to location were not reassembled such as book shelves, a desk and other pieces of furniture. An antique lamp was very poorly packed and broken in several places. Several pieces of antique crystal glassware were broken. A vase was packed in the bottom of a box with a heavy wooden furniture item on top of it—shattered. Paintings on canvases were poorly packed and are now stretched and warped. A leg was broken off of an upright piano because the movers did not bring equipment to aid with moving it. Plus, the movers packed my renters' items that I had to pay to ship back to the renters after specifically telling the movers not to pack those items. Needless to say, I don't think Five Star vetted these movers or prepared them properly for the move.

Where to start off with this company? I got a call from Austin and he was very nice walking me through everything I need to know to make the right move. Over all from start to finish I was very pleased with the services I got. I was a little nervous going with a broker but you know what it turned out great! They did there job of what needs to be done, the moving company that came packed everything well and were very nice with me. Being a single mom it is hard sometimes but I want to thank you team at Five Star Moving that made this a good experience for me!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

I am very pleased with the level of service we received from Five Star Moving. The support staffs from the office was very helpful, they helped us to settle the moving schedule and also gave us quick response whenever we had a question. I just wanted to say that our move went outstanding and thank them once again for all of their help. The 4 men that showed up were expert movers and I was very pleased with the professionalism and speed of their performance. I contacted Five Star and spoke with their Sales representative, Scott. He was knowledgeable and understood my needs. He could tell I was stressed and sent the best staff employees in which made our move very smooth. I had some heavy belongings but they didn't take a long time to finish packing everything. They were very careful while carrying and loading them into the truck.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1925

I was looking for a mover to move my household from TN to FL. I contacted a few companies and Five Star offered me the lowest price, based on my inventory. I signed a contract and gave them a deposit. That was my first mistake. They couldn't give me the name of the actual company who would move my stuff, nor could they guarantee the date they would arrive. "It will be either Sunday or Monday. You will get a call on Saturday if they are coming on Sunday; otherwise they will come on Monday." Note: I had to be out of the house by midnight Monday. No call Saturday. Okay, so I called to see when they would be arriving on Monday. "10 AM," I was told. "Oh, they had truck trouble and bad traffic. They will arrive at 3:30 PM." No truck. "They're still running behind. 7:30 PM." No truck. "They will be there at 10 PM." No truck. Finally, they arrive at 10:30 PM with a 26-foot Penske truck! Are you kidding me? This is a 3000 square foot home..There's NO WAY everything will fit in there. "No problem. We will take it to an 18-wheeler that is nearby and come back and get the rest." Really? Why didn't you just bring the 18-wheeler?
Long story short:
1. They finished loading my stuff at 4 AM.
2. They charged me an extra $600 for boxes they told me they would provide me for free.
3. The total cost of the move, quoted at $4,500, was over $10,000!
Most of the time I was left feeling like I was dealing with some scam artists, who kept reassuring me that "these are our top-of-the-line movers." I felt like our neighbors must've thought we were criminals, moving out in the middle of the night.
4. There was NO FOLLOW UP from this company. No "How did it go? Were you pleased with our service? Would you recommend us to your family and friends?" Probably because they already knew what the answers would be..

A word to the wise: Avoid using a broker for your move. ANY broker. I would have spent less and had MUCH less grief if I had dealt directly with a moving company (as I did when I moved to TN).

I’m not sure where to start of with this review but I’d like to thank Scott for helping me set up my move to Mew Jersey. I got tons of phones from moving company but I just felt the most comfortable with Scott. Staring off with pricing it wasn’t extremely high but still it was a good amount regardless of the price the services I got were outstanding. 5 Star is a Broker, they did their job in coordinating the move and setting me up with a mover. What I would suggest to other customers reading this is just let them do their job, I was extremely stressed out in the beginning but everything turned out great! Thank you again.

I was looking around for fairly priced company and I wasn’t very successful until my friend recommended Five Star. She used them and said they were great. I called and got a quote and it was much more fair in my opinion. The day of the move three men came and dismantled everything and moved everything out of my apartment. When they arrived at my home they put everything back together and placed them where I needed them to go. The moving experience with them was seamless and headache free. Overall, I do have to say I was happy with these guys.

For starters I have never used a mover before. I have always rented a truck and moved myself. Now that I am married with small children I didn’t see a self move as my best option. I submitted one of those quote requests online. I must have had 10 different moving companies quote me. Some low prices and others very expensive. I did my research on those companies and I decided to go with Five Star for a few reasons. First, my sales representative Thomas was very nice and professional and explained everything to me and they had great customer reviews. I can attest to the fact that they are very professional and the movers were fast and did a great job. Nothing broken. That’s all I can ask. I recommend this company!

This company was wonderful! Truly! They has some of the best customer service and communication that I have ever experienced with any kind of company. Scheduling was so easy and flexible when I needed it to be. The crew that moved us was top notch! They were a nice group of guys and did a beautiful job with our move. I have moved so many times and have never used a company so great! They really are the best movers out there. There’s no need to shop around any more. Five Star is fantastic!

If I could give a zero star review for this company I would. I scheduled my move from Omaha, NE to Austin, TX. They were supposed to pick up my goods on March 16th. I had to call several times to learn that my items would actually not be picked up till the 17th. Once the movers arrived I learned that it was not going to be five star moving my items, who had good reviews which is why I hired them, but another moving company who had terrible reviews. When they arrived to pick up my goods they ended up charging me roughly $400 more than the estimated price of the move even though I told them exactly what I was moving when they gave me the estimate. Once my items where loaded they assured me that my items would be delivered no later than March 22nd. It is now March 23rd and I both don't know where my items are nor even an estimated delivery date for the items. I have called them every day trying to get an answer and I can't get anywhere close to a straight response as to when my goods will be arriving. I would highly recommend you avoid this company.

I am a single father with 3 kids and it is very stressful looking for a moving company. I spoke with Austin from this company and he explained everything from start to finish how the move is going to be, that made me very comfortable with choosing this company. I have to say they did a great job with setting me up with the moving company. The moving company came a few hours late, that’s understandable, packing went well and over all a 5 star experience.

5 star did a great a job managing this process, I had some trouble with past moving companies, and I’m sure everyone is aware of all the scams that are out there, so I was just about ready to put everything in a I haul and call it a day. My wife got a million and one phone calls, and when she spoke Rick he didn’t try to hard close like every guy, then when I called him back, to my surprise, there were no B.S. excuses about why the price had jumped up- because it didn’t. Highly recommend 5 star movers!

They helped me get ready for my first ever long distance move. I was stressed, anxious and unsure of what to do - but 5Stars gave me the advice and services I needed. I didn’t know how to even go about moving But they answers my questions and held my hand. I was honestly freaking out,but before all of this was said and done I was rest assured and all my family’s belongings made it to our new house in 10/10 condition and the guys were so friendly the ENTIRE time. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Definitely had my doubts seeing as I hadn’t heard of the company myself. Was recommended through a friend. But I’m glad I gave in. In the past I haven’t had the greatest experience with moving companies. They either don’t care and toss your possessions around or simply try and get everything done as fast as possible and something always seems to get damaged one way or another. I was surprised when their employees showed up, they took extra care of all of my belongings as if it was there own. They didn’t rush into the job trying to get out of there. They understood the value of belongings and did whatever they could to make sure nothing was damaged. Very professional and would recommend.

Five Star Moving Company is the worst unprofessional moving Company I have ever had the displeasure of hiring. The previous representative, Rick, was awesome and provided quality customer service initially, which made me select them as a hire. It went all downhill after I signed the agreement. Rick was let go and I had to work with Scott. He is extremely condescending and cares nothing about customer satisfaction. As the Broker, he should have ensured communication and assistance with the movers. From the bungled pick up time hours late, all the way to the destination, EVERYTHING went horribly wrong. When contacted, he stated he had nothing further to do with the way I was treated as he was paid as the Broker and he was done with the process. He was rude and disrespectful as well as misrepresented the cubic footage for my items and tried to obtain more funds from me and hold my items hostage. This Company receives a BIG FAT ZERO as far as a rating and I ask anyone to trust me and DO NOT use Five Star Moving as yourBroker in any way shape or form. I am saving you a ton of money and aggravation!!

Looked into a number of companies. This was recommended to me by a friend of mine and was told these people would take care of me. Let me tell you. They did exactly that. The first time I called I was in contact with one their sales rep Austin who did nothing but an amazing job. He didn’t try and up sell his company by saying they’re better or superior than any of their competitors. A fair and honest sales rep is very hard to find now days. He asked about the details of the job and assured me everything would be taken care of and it would be hassle free. Upon arrival the team members were very friendly and outgoing.
